"I think this road is called Sausage Road" -- Brother White

Queridos amigos, familia, otros --

This week was strange, as weeks generally are as a missionary. But it was also great! I'm running out of time, of course. So this is probably going to be short and sweet.

This week we had our Zone Conference. And it was SO fantastic! :)  It was all centered on a talk called "Becoming a Consecrated Missionary" by Tad R. Callister. If you haven't read it, you should. Even if you're not a missionary. Because it will change your life, I promise. So I'm super motivated to become the best missionary and best member that I can possibly be. It was great and I'm really excited to implement some changes into my life!

I had the amazing opportunity to play a guitar this week! :) For the first time in 8 months. And it brought me so much happiness! I miss my guitar so much.

This week, I met some less-actives that we work with. It's been really hard to get in contact with them. BUT we finally got to see them this week. And I fell in love with them! :) They are the best. Brother Deacon made a deal with me that he would come to church if I would sing in sacrament. So I quickly put all the preparations together to sing in sacrament. Luckily, there wasn't a problem with the Bishop. Because I already had told people I was singing and found someone to play the piano and everything. SO. Good thing Bishop really likes my singing. hahaha. SO I sang on Sunday. I just sang Be Still My Soul straight from the hymn book. BUT it ended up going really well. The less-active couple that promised me they would come loved it so much. It's one of their favorite hymns and it doesn't get sung very often, so they were so happy. And then the woman that I had play the piano for me told me that it was really inspired, because she needed to hear those words at that point. SO it made me really happy! :)

OH MY GOSH! There's a member in our ward who is blind, and he is the most fiercely independent person I have ever met in my entire life. This week, we had the task of helping him walk to the post office. The most terrifying experience of my life. But it was also hilarious. He says the funniest things. But. I almost got hit in the face with his cane a few times. But it was great. And terrifying. I've probably never had more anxiety in my entire life.

This is my last P-Day with my companion... :( That makes me really sad. It's our last week together, and we don't even really get to be together this week! We're going on exchanges for two days. So. That's a bummer. But we're going to have a really amazing week!

I love and miss you all!

Pastor Beards

My dear friends and family,

This week was...weird. Basically sickness was abounding and work didn't get done in Eagle for 3 days this week. BUT. All is well. It all turned out okay, so no worries. But...I don't have much to talk about this week.

Hanging Lake
We DID hike Hanging Lake last Monday! Which is weird, because it definitely feels like it was more than a week ago. But it was SUPER beautiful, so I'll be sure to send pictures. It was the best!

On Tuesday we had to say goodbye to Cesar, because he went back to BYU-I! Basically it was the worst. I love Cesar! But all is well. He's off doing great things with his life!

On Saturday we were on Exchanges with the lovely Glenwood Sisters. I went to Glenwood with Sister Pierce, and we had a good day. Took lots of ridiculous pictures and won a competition. :) It was great.

So yesterday, Sister Adair and Sister Pierce were both super sick. So Sister Adair and I drove to Glenwood so that Sister Arnold and I could go do something. So Sister Arnold and I were together for a couple hours and it was the best. :) I loved it. I LOVE MI MAMA! It's always a good time when we're together.

Other news from yesterday is that I had to give my first on the spot talk in Spanish sacrament meeting. So that was an adventure. Sister Adair made me go first, so I had literally two seconds to come up with a topic. So I just stuck with the basics. And I talked about the Book of Mormon. Because that's it. Everything will always come back to the Book of Mormon. That is the evidence that everything that we believe is true.

Well friends, and family. I love you all. I miss you all.

"It smells really candle-y in here..." -Cesar

Because, yes, my friends. Candle-y is indeed a scent. Thanks, Cesar, for your words of wisdom. :)

This week was a week. Probably my favorite week in Eagle thus far. :) Everything's all kind of blurred together, though. So you'll have to excuse me as I try to sort out my brain in this email. :)

On Tuesday, I got to spend the day in Rifle with Sister Moody. And it was so much fun, being in Hna Chandler's old area for a day! :) Sister Moody is amazing! She's such a hard worker and such a good example to others around her! And, they had coordination meetings when I was there. So I got to see OTHER MISSIONARIES on a day that wasn't District Meeting. And it may or may not have been one of my favorite parts of the week. I miss being around other missionaries!

On Friday, a member, Myrna, got married! So we got to help out with decorating cupcakes/turning them into bouquets. :) It was a lot of fun. Also. Friends. Family. I have a new addiction. Pineapple empenadas. Oh. My. Gosh. Best things of my LIFE. So good. Basically, Myrna stopped her wedding so that I could try one. It was kind of hilarious. And definitely worth it. I would stop my wedding to eat a pineapple empenada. :)

Okay, I want to tell you about my new favorite people, Rafe and Courtney! They were worked with a lot by missionaries in the past, Rafe is a less-active member and Courtney is an investigator. They live in a town in our area that is a place that we don't have the time or miles to get to. But on Saturday night we decided that we NEEDED to get in touch with them somehow. So Sunday after church, we had a text from Courtney. She told us that she'd moved into the town where we live and that she wanted us to come over so that Rafe could get a blessing. SO we went over and did all of that. And they really want to change their lives around right now. They really want to change so that their son can have a good happy life in the Gospel. And they're amazing. And I'm so excited to work with them more!

Friends, family, mission life is the greatest. My mission has been the best thing of my life and has changed me in ways that I can't even describe. I'm so grateful for this opportunity that I have.

I don't have more time, because the library computer is going to kick me off. Also, we're going for a hike today! So I

'll send pretty pictures of CO next week!

I love and miss you all!

#GraciasAQueElVive #BecauseHeLives

Dear Friends, Family, and also others.

Nuestra Zone
This week went by...ridiculously fast. Really. It was such a stinkin' blur. And...I'm just going to give you a day-by-day layout of what I did this week.

Monday: Sister Adair and I built a shelf. Because we're awesome. And it's beautiful. And Sister Chandler and Sister McRae came to Eagle and stayed with us! SLEEPOVER. And it was the best being reunited with my Chandzy!

Tuesday: I got to be with Chandzy all day! Until 5. :) It was the best. But it was SUPER weird being with her.. Because, GUYS, she speaks Spanish now! She's amazing. And it was so great to be able to be with her for a whole day! And do missionary work for REAL with her! It was the best. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, we do not have pictures to prove that this event really happened. (Her camera was dead...mine was left in our apartment, to which I did not have a key because the STLs did not really think things through.) But I promise that it happened! And was great!

Wednesday: I got to be with mi mama for the day! :) It was the best! But it was SUPER weird being with her and not being in Denver. But it was great, we had a really good day! And it was like old times! :) I don't have any pictures to prove this event really happened either, because....I'm really bad about taking pictures. But I promise that this one happened as well!

Thursday: We were in Glenwood ALL day! We had zone meeting! SO that was great. I sang a musical number with Sister Pierce and Elder Serrano. And as a mission, we are now being asked to sing in every lesson, except when we're tracting and we first find people. SO! I'm really excited to sing to people all the time! :) YES!

Friday: We had weekly planning...meh. I had a mental/emotional breakdown. But all is well! We just...didn't really get to work because Sister Adair and I were just crying. A lot. Actually, that's a lie. I was the only one that was crying. But we're good now! No worries.

The weekend: We got to watch conference! And it was amazing! The talks were amazing and I felt so inspired and uplifted. I am so grateful that we have a living prophet on the earth today and that twice a year we get to listen to conference and hear the words that God has for us! It truly is amazing, and I know that it's real. Thomas S. Monson truly is a prophet of God.

I hope that you all have an amazing week! Know that I love you, and God loves you, too!

Los quiero,
Hermana Sherilyn Harper
